Earn $750 bonus cash back after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening

If you’re looking for a solid business credit card with unlimited earning potential, this could be it. With a 1.5% cash-back rate, it earns less than the other Ink Business cards, but you can put earning on autopilot with no spending limits or categories to juggle.

Earn Unlimited Flat-Rate Rewards With No Annual Fee

If you want cash back that you can drive back into your business or use for personal expenses, the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card could be a great option. It features an unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases, no annual fee and a $750 sign-up bonus, making it our choice for the best business cash-back credit card. You can pair the Ink Business Unlimited with another card and only use it for any non-bonus category spending, or simply use it on everything if you don’t want to bother with category tracking.

The Ink Business Unlimited credit card is technically a cash-back card, but the rewards can be transferred to travel partners when you have another qualifying Chase card that offers this feature. If you own a business, no matter how big or small, this card should be on your radar.

Pros

  • No annual fee
  • Easy earning structure of 1.5X back on everything with no limits
  • Robust travel and purchase protections

Cons

  • Businesses that spend more on bonus categories won't earn more in rewards
  • 1.5X isn't the highest earning rate

Card Highlights

  • Unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases
  • $750 bonus cash back after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first three months after account opening
  • Free employee cards, to help you earn rewards faster
  • Introductory APR of 0% for first 12 months on new purchases, after that an 18.49% - 24.49% (Variable) APR applies
  • Travel and purchase protections
  • $0 annual fee

Sign-Up Bonus

The Ink Business Unlimited credit card is one of the best business rewards credit cards on the market, primarily because of its large upfront bonus:

  • Earn $750 in bonus cash after you spend $6,000 in the first three months from account opening.
  • The sign-up bonus comes in the form of bonus points, redeemable for $750 cash back.
  • The bonus posts to your account six to eight weeks after qualifying.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a better bonus offer right now on a small-business credit card with no annual fee.

The $6,000 spending requirement could be difficult for some to meet, especially if you have a relatively new business or you simply don't have many expenses. If you can't spend at least $2,000 per month on the card for the first three months, it may not be worth applying for. The good news is that employee cards are free and their spending can count toward your minimum spend requirement.

What Our Credit Card Experts Are Saying

“When I moved recently, I had a lot of business expenses I’d been putting off. The Ink Business Unlimited Credit Card’s intro APR promotion made it easy to float those purchases while I also dealt with a mountain of moving-related expenses. I also managed to earn the card’s welcome bonus quickly and then used it to help buy some furniture for my new house. If you’re thinking about getting the card, have a plan in place to ensure you get the welcome bonus without spending more than you normally would. “

Earning Rewards

Besides a large introductory bonus, the Ink Business Unlimited credit card also offers flat cash-back earning:

  • Unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase you make

While that's the advertised rate, though, it's important to note that you're technically earning Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which is a whole lot better than straight cash back. There are no spending categories to track to ensure you're maximizing your rewards potential. For business owners who want to earn simple cash-back rewards for spending, few cards compare to the Ink Business Unlimited.

Redeeming Rewards

The Chase Ultimate Rewards program is arguably the most versatile and valuable credit card rewards program on the market. With the Ink Business Unlimited credit card, you can redeem your rewards for:

  • Cash back
  • Travel through the Ultimate Rewards program
  • Gift cards
  • Apple products

The program offers 1 cent per point regardless of how you use them.

Transfer to Travel Partners for More Value

Where your rewards could get really valuable, though, is if you have one of the rewards program's travel credit cards, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred®, Chase Sapphire Reserve® or Chase Ink Business Preferred® credit card.

What's more, each of the three cards above allows you to transfer your Ultimate Rewards points to one of Chase's many airline partners or hotel partners.

  • Air Lingus Aer Club
    British Airways Executive Club
    Emirates Skywards
    Air Canada
Flying Blue Air France / KLM
    Iberia Plus
    JetBlue TrueBlue
    Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
    Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards
    United MileagePlus
    Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
    IHG Rewards Club
    Marriott Bonvoy
    World of Hyatt

If you have both the Ink Business Unlimited and one of these three other cards, you can transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned with the Business Unlimited to your other card and use those points to get more value than you would with the Business Unlimited alone.

As a result, your 1.5% rewards rate could turn into 1.875% or 2.25% when redeemed for travel through Chase or potentially more if you transfer your points for a great redemption with one of the card issuer's partners.

Quick Tip

All three Chase cards with an annual fee give you extra value when you redeem your points for travel booked through Chase — that’s 25% more with the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred, and 50% more with the Sapphire Reserve.

Drawbacks

Ink Business Unlimited carries several benefits but may not be the best option for everyone. Consider these drawbacks before making a decision:

  • No bonus categories: The Chase Ink Business Unlimited offers a flat rate on every purchase you make, and it's better than the standard 1% back that you'll get with a lot of cards. However, if you spend a lot of money in certain categories, you may be able to get more value from another card that offers bonus rewards on those expenses.
  • High spending requirement for sign-up bonus: Since businesses tend to spend more than people, you'll see a higher spending requirement to earn the card's sign-up bonus. Consider the card only if you're confident you can meet that threshold.
  • The regular APR can be high: While you'll get an introductory APR promotion of 0% for first 12 months on the card, its regular APR is relatively high once the promotion ends, 18.49% - 24.49% (Variable) based on your creditworthiness. This means if you carry a balance after that initial period, you'll pay dearly for it. In general, it's best to pay your balance on time and in full every month to avoid interest charges.
  • Foreign transaction fees: If you travel a lot internationally for your business, getting a card with no foreign transaction fees is likely your best bet to save on those fees. Unfortunately, this card charges a 3% fee on every purchase you make in a foreign currency.

Annual Fee

The Chase Ink Business Unlimited card doesn't carry an annual fee. Paying yearly fees can often cut into the value of a card's rewards and card benefits. There is no annual fee to worry about with the Ink Business Unlimited, whether you utilize all the card's benefits or not.

APR

The Chase Ink Business Unlimited card comes with an introductory APR of 0% for first 12 months on new purchases. After the initial period, the card features a variable APR ranging from 18.49% - 24.49% (Variable) based on your creditworthiness.

Other Fees

Chase Ink Business Unlimited charges a 3% foreign transaction fee on international purchases. Other business cards with no fees are a better option if you travel abroad frequently for business.

The card also carries a late payment fee. Making on-time payments each month will help you avoid these costly charges.

Recommended Credit Score

The Chase Ink Business Unlimited credit card requires that you have at least good personal credit to get approved. According to FICO, a good credit score starts at 670, but each card issuer has its own way of determining qualifying credit, and Chase hasn't disclosed what it considers to be good credit.

One thing to keep in mind is that Chase will run a credit check on you personally to determine whether you qualify, not just your business. Also, most business credit scores require a personal guarantee, which means if your business can't repay the debt it incurs on the card, you'll be personally responsible for making payments—and that's regardless of how your business is structured.

You need to own a business to qualify for this card, but it doesn't need to be a corporation or a limited liability company (LLC). You can get approved as a sole proprietor, and since you can turn anything into a business to make money, you can probably find a way to be eligible for the card.

Ink Business Unlimited vs. Ink Business Cash

The Ink Business Cash® Credit Card is nearly identical to Ink Business Unlimited outside of its rewards structure. Both cards have no annual fee, 0% intro APR offers on new purchases and travel and purchase protections. They even have the same sign-up bonus offer.

However, instead of a flat cash-back rate, Ink Business Cash earns higher bonus rates in common business spending categories:

  • 5% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases each account anniversary year at office supply stores and on internet, cable and phone services
  • 2% cash back on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases each account anniversary year at gas stations and restaurants
  • 1% cash back on all other purchases

The better card option is the one that aligns best with your business spending. Choose the Ink Business Unlimited for simple cash-back earning, but choose the Ink Business Cash if you frequently spend in popular business expense categories.

Ink Business Unlimited vs. Ink Business Preferred

The Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card is a true business travel rewards credit card. It comes with a $95 annual fee but offers more earning potential through Chase Ultimate Rewards. Points earned with the card are worth 25% more when redeemed for travel through Ultimate Rewards. Ink Business Preferred allows you to transfer points to more than a dozen travel transfer partners for even more flexibility.

The card comes with a huge sign-up bonus offer, but it requires a lot more spending to achieve. You'll earn 100,000 points after you spend $8,000 in the first three months from account opening.

With no foreign transaction fees, the Ink Business Preferred is a better option when traveling internationally. The card is best for companies with higher expense budgets. It's also for frequent business travelers who want to redeem points for travel.

Who Is the Ink Business Unlimited Good for?

The Ink Business Unlimited provides a lot of value for a business card with no annual fee.

The card is best for:

  • Businesses that want to earn cash-back rewards but don't have the time and energy to track bonus categories. The card may fit small businesses, but only if your business expenses are enough to meet the card's spending requirements to earn the sign-up bonus.
  • Those who want to pair it with another Ultimate Rewards-earning card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve. With additional employee cards provided for free, you can capitalize on all business spending to boost your rewards balance.

Ink Business Unlimited is not the best choice for:

  • Those who spend frequently in common business bonus categories. You're better off with another business credit card with bonus rates that align with your business spending habits.

As with any other business or financial decision, it's crucial that you take the time to consider more than just the sign-up bonus. Compare the card with other business credit card options and consider your own needs, spending habits, and preferences, as well as your credit score, to determine which is the best fit for you.
