Anyone looking to make a large purchase will appreciate the Wells Fargo Reflect Card’s intro 0% APR promotion, which lasts for 21 months and applies to both new purchases and qualifying balance transfers. After the intro 0% APR offer concludes, a 18.24%, 24.74%, 29.99% variable APR will apply based on creditworthiness. It also includes perks like cellphone protection, roadside dispatch assistance and admittance into My Wells Fargo Deals to activate cash rewards deals with select retailers and restaurants.

An Excellent Choice for Balance Transfers

If you’re planning on making a large purchase or you’re hoping to pay down existing high-interest credit card debt, the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card (rates & fees) should be on your radar. While the card does not earn you rewards or come with a welcome offer, you can access its highly competitive offer of 0% intro APR for 21 months (a 18.24%, 24.74%, 29.99% (Variable) APR thereafter applies). This offer can feel like a lifesaver for people who are looking for a solution to their credit card debt or those looking to make a sizable purchase in the near future.

Here’s what you should know about the card, including benefits and drawbacks, and how to determine if it’s the right fit for you.

Pros

  • Ideal for intro APR offer and balance transfers
  • Cellphone protection against damage and theft when you pay your recurring monthly bill
  • No annual fee

Cons

  • No earnings categories or rewards
  • Limited cardholder benefits

0% Introductory APR on Purchases

The card's highlight — and the main real reason to get it — is its introductory APR promotion. As a default, the card offers an introductory 0% APR on purchases for 21 months (then a standard variable APR of 18.24%, 24.74%, 29.99% (Variable) applies depending on creditworthiness).

This offer is in line with similar cards like the Citi Simplicity® Card and the Citi® Diamond Preferred® Card, both from our partner Citi, which offer similar terms.

To give you an idea of how much you could save, here's an example:

  • You make a $5,000 purchase at an 18.99% APR on your card. If you planned to pay off the balance within 21 months, your monthly payment would be $281.71, and you'd pay $915.85 in interest over that time.
  • With the introductory period 0% APR, your monthly payment would be roughly $238.10, and you'd save the full $915.85 in interest charges. Even if you have a small balance at the end of the promotional period, you'll only pay interest on the remaining balance.

0% Introductory APR on Balance Transfers

The Wells Fargo Reflect® Card's introductory 0% APR promotional period also extends to qualifying balance transfers, making it a solid choice for debt consolidation. Keep in mind, though, that there’s a balance transfer fee of 5% for each balance transfer, with a minimum of $5. Once again, once this card's introductory 0% APR offer concludes, its standard APR is 18.24%, 24.74%, 29.99% (Variable) based on creditworthiness.

It's important to keep in mind, though, that you won't know what your credit limit on the card will be until you've actually opened the account. So it's possible that you won't be able to transfer your full balance from another card.

No Annual Fee

The Wells Fargo Reflect® Card doesn't charge an annual fee, which is par for the course for this type of balance transfer card. That means you can hold onto the credit card after the promotional period is over, even if you don't plan to use it. Keeping older credit card accounts can help improve your credit score, though you may need to put a purchase on the card now and then to keep it active.

Recommended Credit Score

This card is designed for people with good credit or better, which means having a FICO score of 670 or higher. Note, however, that individual credit card issuers may have their own credit criteria, so if you're just barely above 670, that's not a guarantee you'll get approved.

For the best chance of getting approved with a solid credit limit, it's best to have a high credit score and a low debt-to-income ratio, which is the percentage of your gross monthly income that goes toward debt payments.

Card Benefits

For the most part, the card's added perks are nothing to write home about. However, there are some that can come in handy.

  • Cellphone Protection: If you use your Wells Fargo Reflect® Card to pay your phone bill, you can get reimbursed up to $600 per claim for repair or replacement on eligible damaged or theft. There's a $25 deductible per claim, and you can only file up to two claims per 12-month period.
  • Roadside Dispatch: If you're stranded on the road, this perk makes it easy to get the help you need. While you'll need to pay for the actual service you receive, your card can make the process go more smoothly. It includes things like towing, tire changing, jump-starting, lockout service, fuel delivery and standard winching.
  • My Wells Fargo Deals: In your online account or mobile app, you'll be able to search and activate cash rewards deals with select retailers and restaurants. If you take advantage of a deal, you'll get your rewards in the form of a statement credit.

Should You Get the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card?

The Wells Fargo Reflect® Card offers the longest introductory 0% APR promotion – then 18.24%, 24.74%, 29.99% (Variable) – that we know of, and you'll get it on both purchases and balance transfers. It's an excellent option if you have plans to make a large purchase or need to pay down existing credit card debt. After the promotional period is over, though, the card doesn't provide a lot of value.

Depending on how much you need to pay down, consider other 0% APR credit cards that offer rewards for more ongoing value, even if their introductory 0% APR periods are shorter.

Once you've had the card for at least six months, you can request to have a credit line increase if you need a higher limit. Note that approval is not guaranteed.

  • No, the Wells Fargo Reflect® Card does not earn you rewards on your spending. The main attraction of the card is its introductory offer. If you want to earn rewards, consider a rewards credit card

  • The Wells Fargo Reflect® Card is recommended for people with good credit, or at least a FICO score of 670 or higher to increase your odds of approval.
