Capital One is still setting the bar high when it comes to reinventing the travel and lounge experience at popular airports across the country. With the opening of the Capital One Lounge at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) last year and the expected opening of two new lounges at Denver International Airport (DEN) and Dulles International Airport (IAD) in early 2023, the bank has quickly ramped up its aspirations within the travel sector.

And with two more major additions, the bank is bolstering its presence even further.

New Airport Dining Concept: Capital One Landing

Capital One is coming up with a new concept that focuses on food. It will be first seen in Terminal B of LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in New York and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) in Washington, D.C., giving travelers a great dining experience just a short distance from their gate. This chef-driven concept aims to bring a high-end dining experience to the center of the terminal.

Capital One Landings will be in the middle of the terminal at metropolitan airports where people usually only stay for a short time. This will make it easy for travelers to access high-caliber gourmet food options as they hurry to catch their flights.

Chef José Andrés

Capital One

The bank has hired José Andrés Group, the company that runs the chef’s award-winning chain of restaurants, to curate and design the menu for the Capital One Landings concept. The main focus of the food and drink menu will be real Spanish tapas and healthy, unique, and creative food options for travelers.

This is an expansion of Capital One’s ongoing relationship with Chef José Andrés, who also helps the company with its Capital One Dining program. This program gives customers access to reservations at a variety of well-known restaurants and opens the door to memorable dining experiences.

Capital One Landing Locations

The first two Capital One Landing locations will be found at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in New York and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) in Washington, D.C.

The larger LaGuardia Airport site will be 10,700 square feet in size and located in the brand-new, state-of-the-art Terminal B. The indoor/outdoor design will provide amazing views of the airport and the New York City skyline.

The Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is 5,483 square feet and will be located in Terminal 2, just after security, at the corner of National Hall and Concourse D, with easy access to concourses B, C, D, and E.

An Exclusive Hotel Collection for Capital One Customers

Capital One has jumped into the ring with competitors like American Express and Chase, both of which already offer their own luxury hotel collections for eligible cardholders. Capital One has put together its own hotel collection, made up of hand-picked, luxurious hotels and resorts. Those with the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card are expected to be able to access this collection through the Capital One Travel portal in late 2022.

Capital One’s Premier Collection includes hotels and resorts all over the world, from Faena in Miami Beach to The Ned NoMad in New York City to Hotel Lutetia in Paris to Nihi Sumba in Indonesia. Each hotel and resort in the collection was chosen for its unique style and high standards. The group of hundreds of hotels will have properties all over the world, both in cities and at resorts.

Customers who book their Premier Collection hotel stays through Capital One Travel will get a number of VIP-like perks, but only if they have a Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card.

Most of the time, bookings through the Premier Collection will earn hotel loyalty points, and stays will count toward status.

Bottom Line

Capital One has gone all in on the travel industry and is providing its cardholders with more value-added perks. The bank opened its first airport lounge at DFW last year and plans to open two more in early 2023. Now, Capital One is introducing a new way to eat at airports and has built its own collection of luxury hotels. Cardholders should keep an eye out for these new ideas that will be introduced soon.
